    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
James Allen Teague
February 2, 1941 — April 15, 2025

Mr. James Allen Teague, 84 of the Sonoraville Community, departed this life on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at AdventHealth Gordon.

James was born in Pickens County, Georgia on February 2, 1941, the son of the late John Sherman Teague and Lilabell Champion Teague. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary Teague; three siblings, Martha Teague, John Teague, and Della “Ruth” Teague Kolwyck.

He lived the greater part of his life in Gordon County. He served with the Gordon County Sheriff's Department for many years. He was a Driver's License examiner with the Georgia State Patrol, a former Fairmount Chief of Police, a Fireman with the City of Calhoun Fire Department, and a member of the Georgia Department of Public Safety Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division. He was a member of the Sonora Lodge #221 F&AM, where he served as Past Master.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Chastain Teague to whom he was married for 62 years; daughter, Terri Teague Bowen, and her husband Frank of Calhoun; son, Jerry Teague and his wife Sandy of Valley Head, Alabama; grandchildren, LeAnn Teague Miller, Madison Teague, Douglas Teague, Aaron Teague, Jacob Bowen, Landon Bowen; great-grandchildren, Landree June Bowen, Ellie “Bear” Teague, and Addy Burns; brother, Gene Teague, along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The funeral will be conducted on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove (Ryo) Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, April 19th, between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM.

James requested that flowers be omitted and contributions be made in his memory to Sonora Masonic Lodge, Post Office Box 2419, Calhoun, Georgia 30703.
