Gordon County Government is mourning the loss of Steve Parris, the county’s longtime Director of Public Works, who dedicated over 40 years of service to the community.
Throughout his decades of work, Parris played a vital role in shaping and maintaining the county’s infrastructure, earning a reputation for his deep knowledge, steady leadership, and unwavering commitment. He was considered a cornerstone of Gordon County government and a trusted mentor to many colleagues.
“Steve’s impact on Gordon County goes far beyond his professional contributions—he was a man of integrity, kindness, and quiet strength. His absence will be deeply felt by all of us who had the privilege of working alongside him,” the county said in a statement.
A visitation to honor Steve Parris will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Max Brannon and Sons’ Funeral Home. The community is invited to attend and pay their respects.
