Heat Advisory Issued as Local Leaders Address Public Concerns at County Meeting

GORDON COUNTY, GA — The heat is the top story across the region today, as the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) has issued a heat advisory effective through tonight. While scattered evening showers may bring temporary relief, officials are urging residents to take precautions.

At yesterday’s regular administrative hearing of the Gordon County Board of Commissioners (GCBC), several key developments were discussed. Among the highlights was the retirement of longtime public servant Ursula Richardson. Richardson, a respected figure in the Planning and Zoning Department, is currently training her successor. Election Board Chair Shea Hicks reported alarmingly low turnout in the recent Public Service Primaries, with fewer than one percent of eligible voters participating.
