Gordon County Board of Commissioners to Meet Tonight

The Gordon County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to meet tonight at the Judicial Building Assembly Room. The meeting will begin with a work session at 5:00 PM, followed by the regular session at 6:00 PM.

During the work session, commissioners will review agenda items and hear reports from the Parks & Recreation Department and the Tax Assessor’s Office. An executive session is also scheduled to discuss litigation, property acquisition, and personnel matters. A report on Local Option Sales Tax (LOST) and Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) collections and projects will also be provided.

The regular session will begin with an invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by approval of the meeting agenda and minutes from the June 17 sessions.

Items on the Agenda Include:

  • Special Recognition of county employees for their years of service in July.

  • Administrator’s and Commissioners’ Reports

  • First Readings and Public Hearings, if applicable.

New Business Items Scheduled for Consideration:

  1. Appointment of Keith King to fill a vacancy on the Limestone Valley Resource, Conservation, and Development Council for a term ending December 31, 2026.

  2. Request from the Sheriff’s Office to deem a service weapon as surplus.

  3. Request from Fire & Rescue to declare certain equipment as surplus.

  4. Request from Purchasing to deem Fleet Management equipment as surplus.

  5. Request from Administration to declare the Ranger Community Center as surplus for demolition.

  6. Request from IT to approve a quote from Daston Corporation for Virtu Google Encryption services for the Sheriff’s Office at an annual cost of $15,384.96 (FY26 budget).

  7. Request from IT to approve a three-year renewal of Google Workspace at an annual cost of $60,003.32, resulting in a cost savings of $20,000 (FY26 budget).

  8. Request to approve a construction agreement with Momon Construction for the Multi-Purpose Agriculture Center, a 2018 SPLOST project.

  9. Request from the Public Defender’s Office to approve the FY26 Georgia Indigent Defense Services Agreement.
