Early voting for the Democratic Special Primary Runoff Election begins today, Monday, July 7, and will run through Friday, July 11.

All early voting is being conducted at the Gordon County Board of Elections and Registration Office, located inside the Gordon County Courthouse at 100 South Wall Street in Calhoun. Voting hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.

Today is also the final day to request an absentee ballot by mail for this election.

Under Georgia law (O.C.G.A. § 21-2-270), when fewer than one percent of a county’s registered voters participate in a primary, only one polling location is required to open for the runoff election. Based on this provision, the Gordon County Board of Elections has voted unanimously to operate a single polling place on Election Day, Tuesday, July 15.

That polling place will be located at the Calhoun Recreation Department, 601 South River Street, Calhoun, and will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.

Voter Eligibility for the Runoff:

  • You must be a registered voter in Gordon County.

  • Voters who cast a Republican ballot in the June 17 Special Primary are not eligible to vote in the Democratic runoff.

  • Voters who cast a Democratic ballot in the June 17 Special Primary are eligible.

  • Voters who did not vote in the June 17 election may still vote in the Democratic runoff.

For questions about early voting, absentee ballots, or eligibility, residents are encouraged to contact the Gordon County Board of Elections at (706) 629-7781.
