A Resaca man has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for coercing a Lafayette County Mississippi child into sending sexually explicit images through an online gaming platform.
Davin Buckner, 24, was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Greenville Mississippi after pleading guilty to attempted coercion and enticement of a minor. In addition to the prison term, Buckner will be placed on lifetime supervised release.
According to court documents, Buckner began communicating with the 10-year-old boy through an online video game. He gave the child access to his gaming account and allowed him to use in-game credits. After the credits were used, Buckner told the child he would need to “repay” him by sending nude photos of himself.
Buckner believed the child was only 9 years old. The child complied and sent a sexually explicit image using his cell phone.
The incident came to light when the child’s parents discovered the messages and turned the phone over to the FBI. Investigators traced the communication to Buckner, who was already out on bond at the time for a separate child exploitation case in Georgia.
Federal prosecutors said Buckner committed this offense while awaiting trial on hands-on sexual abuse charges related to a 2020 case.  District Judge Debra M. Brown sentenced Buckner to serve 240 months in federal prison followed by lifetime supervised release.
