Gordon County Commission Advances Ag Center Project; Public Hearing, Local Tragedy, and Early Voting Updates

At its recent meeting, the Gordon County Board of Commissioners gave the green light for the long-anticipated Agricultural Center funded by the 2018 SPLOST. If proposed modifications are approved, the total cost of the project is expected to reach $4.9 million. Local contractor Moman Construction has already received approval to order building materials ahead of potential tariff increases—securing a price lock that saved approximately 10% on metal for the facility.

In other news, a local resident, 42-year-old Chad Bohannon, tragically lost his life in a single-vehicle accident on Boone Ford Road around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

The Gordon County Board of Commissioners will hold its next regular meeting on Tuesday, July 15 at 5 p.m. The meeting will include a public hearing on the newly proposed millage rate increase.

Meanwhile, early voting begins today for the Democratic Party Primary runoff for Georgia’s Public Service Commission. Voting will continue through Friday.
