ROCK SPRING, GA — Georgia Northwestern Technical College’s (GNTC) Commercial Truck Driving – Class A program has received a $1,000 grant from Love’s Travel Stops, providing critical support to students pursuing careers in the trucking industry.

The grant, awarded through the GNTC Foundation, will allow the college to purchase commercial driver log books in bulk. These will be distributed free of charge to students enrolled in the college’s Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) certificate program, removing a financial barrier and helping more students complete their training.

“Obtaining a CDL offers a second chance for many GNTC students,” said Robert Browder, director and instructor of the Commercial Truck Driving – Class A program. “Whether students are searching for a good-paying job with benefits to support their family or struggling to find employment, our program can change lives by providing the foundational training needed to launch a successful career in commercial truck driving.”

GNTC’s CDL – Class A program, based at the college’s Walker County Campus in Rock Spring, is an intensive 8- to 10-week course that culminates in the Georgia CDL skills exam. Upon completion, graduates are prepared to enter the workforce as licensed commercial drivers.

Love’s Travel Stops’ donation aligns with the company’s core values of supporting communities where it operates. The company’s philanthropic efforts focus on Pre-K through 12th grade education, youth and family initiatives, and the professional trucking community.

GNTC serves the citizens of northwest Georgia with a broad range of workforce-focused programs. The college offers associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates in fields including aviation, business, healthcare, industrial technologies, and public service. In the past year, GNTC reached more than 13,000 individuals through both credit and noncredit programs, making a significant impact on workforce development in the region.
