    Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
John Aubrey Gazaway
March 12, 1939 — August 21, 2025

John Aubrey Gazaway, age 86 of Plainville, GA, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at his residence.

John was born on March 12, 1939 in Gordon County, GA, son of the late Aubrey Miller Gazaway and Johnnie Mae Poarch Gazaway. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Elleen DeVolld Gazaway; and first wife, Susan Fuller Gazaway. John was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He had a lifelong love for the outdoors and pursued that passion by owning and operating his own plant nursery.

John is survived by: two sons, Mark Gazaway and Jeff Gazaway and his wife Scarlette; two grandchildren, Auburi Martin and her husband Kyle and Kati Rhinehart and her husband Mark; and one sister, Judy Gazaway.
