CALHOUN, GA – Synovus Bank and Calhoun Utilities have joined the Keep Calhoun-Gordon Beautiful (KCGB) Adopt-a-Mile program by selecting Calhoun Recreation Park as their focus for improvement.

To kick off their participation, Synovus will host a Community Cleanup Day on Sunday, October 5, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The cleanup will cover the entire park as well as the creek that runs through it. Volunteers will meet at the pavilion on the South River Street side of the recreation center.

All necessary supplies will be provided for registered volunteers.

Participating groups and contributions include:

  • City of Calhoun: Water and Wastewater Director Erik Henson and his team, joined by Water Resource Consultant Catherine Fox of Fox Environmental, LLC, will provide pool nets, waders, and River’s Alive t-shirts. They’ll also serve grilled hot dogs to all participants.

  • Synovus Bank: Laura Braddy and her team will sponsor the event, supplying drinks and snacks for volunteers.

  • KCGB: The organization will provide safety vests, grabbers, nets, buckets, bags, and gloves.

  • Community Groups: CHS Interact, SHS Interact, SHS FFA, RMS FFA, and Gordon County 4-H will also be on-site to lend a hand.

Organizers encourage residents to come out and take part in keeping the city’s green spaces clean and welcoming for all.
