AdventHealth Gordon has recognized patient care technician Donna Collins as the latest recipient of the SonShine Award, honoring her for her compassionate and attentive service to patients.
Collins was nominated for her ability to make every patient feel valued and cared for. One nomination highlighted her care for a 77-year-old patient with dementia, bipolar disorder, hearing loss, and other health challenges, who was being treated for a broken ankle and wrist. “Donna has the most wonderful way of making her patients feel like they are the only patient she has,” the nomination read. “Donna has a warm and caring personality, and the extra love she gave us was as important as the medicine.”
Established in 2017 by AdventHealth Gordon and AdventHealth Murray, the SonShine Award recognizes team members who “shine” for the “Son” of God through compassionate care for patients and support for their colleagues.
The award also provides opportunities for patients, visitors, and staff to acknowledge team members who demonstrate exceptional accomplishments that align with AdventHealth’s mission, vision, and values.
