Lowest Millage in a Decade: At its Sept. 22 meeting, the Calhoun City Council approved upcoming millage rates. The city maintained its rate at 3.50 mills, while the Calhoun City School System implemented a full rollback, cutting its rate from 14.878 to 13.735 mills. The combined rate of 17.235 mills marks the lowest total in 10 years, providing a notable reduction for property owners.
Unity Run Victory: 16-year-old Demetrius Clavino, a junior at Calhoun High School, won the 32nd Annual Unity Run 5K on Tuesday evening with an unofficial time of 17:35. Clavino previously won the race in 2022 as an eighth grader, making this his second victory in the event.
