Lady Phoenix Softball: Back-to-Back Region Champs
The Sonoraville Lady Phoenix (22-5, 14-1) dominated LFO in a 13–0 shutout Thursday night, clinching their second straight Region 7-AA championship. The victory, wrapped up in just four innings, also marked a special celebration for the team’s five seniors.
Historical Society Home Renamed to Honor Jim Lay
The Gordon County Historical Society’s home at 335 South Wall Street has been renamed the James W. Lay House at Oakleigh in honor of longtime president and local historian Jim Lay. The dedication ceremony took place Thursday, Oct. 2, recognizing Lay’s decades of service as an educator and advocate for preserving Calhoun-Gordon County history.
