  • GNTC Students Awarded Gene Haas Scholarship: Jesse Nicholson of Calhoun and Mayahuel Yaoapoqa of Menlo received the Gene Haas Scholarship for their achievements in the Precision Machining and Manufacturing program at Georgia Northwestern Technical College’s Floyd County Campus. The scholarship provides financial support and recognizes students developing technical skills for Georgia’s manufacturing industry.

  • Mountain Education Calhoun Campus Opens: Mountain Education celebrated the opening of its new Calhoun Campus with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 30. Mario Torres, the campus’s first graduate, cut the ribbon. The school offers evening classes Monday–Thursday, with virtual support available during the day.

  • I-75 Lane Closure Tuesday: Weather permitting, the Georgia Department of Transportation will close the right southbound lane and shoulder of I-75 between mileposts 292–291 on Tuesday, October 7, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for shoulder repairs.
