Dr. Nicholas Wells Named Chief Medical Officer at AdventHealth Gordon & Murray
AdventHealth Gordon and AdventHealth Murray have announced the appointment of Dr. Nicholas Wells as Chief Medical Officer, effective November 10.
With over 20 years of experience in military and civilian medicine, Dr. Wells brings expertise in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal care. A U.S. Navy veteran and former Commander at Walter Reed, he previously held leadership roles at Erlanger East and Children’s Hospital at Erlanger.
Hospital officials say his leadership and dedication align with AdventHealth’s mission of compassionate, high-quality care.
Calhoun High Class of 2025 Outperforms National ACT Average
Calhoun High School’s Class of 2025 achieved an average ACT composite score of 20.7, surpassing the national average of 19.4.
Georgia students overall outperformed the nation for the ninth consecutive year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.
Principal Dr. Allison Eubanks credited the success to student effort and strong community support. Calhoun students excelled particularly in Science (21.1) and Reading (22.0), both above national benchmarks.
Gordon County Fire Recruits Complete Hands-On Training
Gordon County Fire & Rescue’s newest recruits are completing intensive training ahead of joining active duty in mid-November.
This week’s exercises included vehicle extrication drills at Parrish Wrecker Service and live fire training at Station Five.
Assistant Chief Sorrels demonstrated the department’s latest rescue tools, while Chief Derryberry noted advancements in compact, battery-powered equipment that enhance response times.
Recruits practiced real-world rescues and fire suppression under the supervision of veteran firefighters.
