AdventHealth Offering Free Meals for Veterans Across Northwest Georgia
This Veterans Day, November 11, AdventHealth will honor the men and women of the United States Armed Forces by providing free meals at multiple community locations throughout Northwest Georgia. Veterans may enjoy complimentary meals at the following participating sites: Bojangles in Chatsworth from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.; Chick-fil-A in Calhoun, Truett’s Chick-fil-A in Rome, Chick-fil-A in Cedartown, McDonald’s in Summerville, and Chick-fil-A in Rockmart from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Additionally, AdventHealth Georgia will host recognition events at all hospital campuses to celebrate and thank its veteran team members, reinforcing the organization’s mission to support whole-person care and honor those who have served.


Calhoun City Schools to Host Second Annual Veterans Day Parade Tuesday
Calhoun City Schools will present its second annual Veterans Day Parade this Tuesday in Downtown Calhoun, offering a community celebration dedicated to local veterans and their service. Festivities begin at 12:30 p.m. at BB&T Park with performances by the Calhoun Primary and Calhoun Elementary School chorus groups, followed by a Calhoun High School Chorus performance at 1:00 p.m. in front of the Gordon County Courthouse. Parade lineup starts at 1:00 p.m. at the Calhoun High School track, with step-off at 1:30 p.m. Residents are encouraged to attend and line the streets to show appreciation for the courage and sacrifice of area veterans.


GNTC Announces Free Application Month for Spring 2026 Semester
Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) is waiving its $25 application fee through November as part of its Free Application Month for the Spring 2026 semester. Prospective students may apply through Nov. 30 by using the code FREEAPP26. The admissions deadline for spring is Nov. 24, although applications submitted after Nov. 28 will be processed for Term C, which also begins in the spring. Spring classes are set to begin Jan. 12. Applicants may contact GNTC’s call center at 866-983-4682, reach Admissions at [email protected], or apply online at www.gntc.edu by selecting “Apply Now.”
