The holiday spirit is officially underway in Plainville as crews raised the city’s Christmas tree this morning, marking the final steps of preparation for one of the community’s most beloved seasonal traditions.

The City of Plainville will host its annual Christmas Parade on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, inviting residents and visitors alike to gather for an evening full of festive cheer. Lineup for the parade will begin at 6 p.m. at the Plainville Recreation Department, located at 610 School Street SW. The parade will roll out at 7 p.m., showcasing local groups, decorated floats, and plenty of holiday magic.

Following the parade, attendees are encouraged to stay for the city’s official tree lighting ceremony, a highlight of the night and a favorite for families across the area.

No registration is required for parade participants — anyone wishing to join simply needs to arrive at 6 p.m. and get in line.

City officials say they’re excited for another year of celebration and community togetherness, and they encourage everyone to come out, enjoy the event, and share in the joy of the season.
