Oscar Jefferson Gravitt
July 28, 1937 — December 25, 2025

Mr. Oscar Jefferson Gravitt, 88 of Calhoun, Georgia, passed from his earthly life on Thursday, December 25, 2025.

Oscar was born in Gordon County on July 28, 1937, the son of the late Robert Lee Gravitt and Ella May Hall Gravitt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Geneva Worley and Ova Lee French; his first wife and mother of his children, Dorothy Clark Gravitt; and his second wife, Irene Gravitt.

Oscar was known by most as a carpenter and had worked for various carpet mills in the area. Before failing health, he was employed as a custodian at Red Bud Elementary School and retired. He enjoyed doing anything with his hands, especially building barnwood frames to display art and portraits. He enjoyed good conversation with his friends, and he will be missed by his family and all who knew him. He was a member of Barrett Road Church of God.

Survivors include his daughters, Laurie Cope and her husband, Don, and Becky Hughes and her husband, David; one son, Jeffery Gravitt, and one grandchild, Alex Gravitt.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Norris Sexton officiating. His body will be laid to rest in Chandler Cemetery.

The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the family of Oscar Jefferson Gravitt.
