The Georgia State Patrol has released preliminary details regarding an early Saturday morning motorcycle crash in Gordon County.
According to GSP, troopers were dispatched just after 8 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, to a motorcycle crash on Highway 136 near Freeman Road in the Resaca area. A 2017 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Highway 136 as it approached Freeman Road NE.
Investigators say the driver, identified as 60-year-old Russell Victor of LaFayette, was traveling too fast for roadway conditions, causing the motorcycle to leave the roadway. The motorcycle struck a ditch, crossed a private driveway, and came to rest on its side.
Both the driver and a passenger sustained serious injuries in the crash. They were initially transported to Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton before being transferred to Erlanger Medical Center and Erlanger Children’s Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Their conditions were unknown at the time of this report.
The investigation remains ongoing.
