Larry Victor Chitwood
September 14, 1942 - January 18, 2026

Mr. Larry Victor Chitwood, age 83, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Atrium Health Floyd in Rome, Georgia.

Larry was born on September 19, 1942, to the late Wilburn and Johnnie Bennett Chitwood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy Kay MacAfee Chitwood, and his brother, Ronald Chitwood.

Larry was a man of quiet strength and deep character. Though private by nature, those who truly knew him understood the size of his heart. He was proud, independent, and carried himself with dignity. A lifelong businessman, Larry loved the art of making a deal and took pride in his work and accomplishments. He was a former member and officer of the Moose Lodge, where he valued fellowship and service.

Above all, Larry loved deeply in his own way. He cherished his family and found great comfort in the companionship of his loyal Chihuahua, Sissy, who was always by his side.

Larry leaves behind his son, Corey Chitwood, and Corey’s significant other, Tamara Campbell, both of Rome, Georgia, who were a source of pride and love in his life. He is also survived by his uncle, David Bennett of Georgia, along with other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

A service to celebrate and honor the life of Larry Chitwood will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 26, 2026, at the Calhoun Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.

Larry will be remembered for his strong spirit, kind heart, and the lasting impact he made on those who had the privilege of knowing him.
