    Heavy mixed precipitation possible. Total snow and sleet accumulations up to one inch and ice accumulations between one quarter and three quarters of an inch possible.

    Expect power outages and tree damage due to the ice. Travel could be impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
    Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation. Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains, booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing. Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help you survive in case you become stranded.

Calhoun City Schools Monitoring Winter Storm Watch, Cancels Weekend Activities

Calhoun City Schools officials say they are closely monitoring the Winter Storm Watch that remains in effect for the area and are preparing for any potential impacts to school operations.

School leaders emphasized that the safety of students and staff is their top priority as weather conditions continue to be evaluated.

Out of an abundance of caution, all student activities scheduled for Saturday and Sunday have been canceled. The cancellations include athletic events and Calhoun Community Education Driver’s Education classes.

At this time, Calhoun City Schools plans to remain in session on Friday, January 23. After-school athletic events at Calhoun High School are also expected to proceed as scheduled.

Officials said updates will be shared if conditions change or additional adjustments are needed.
