Calhoun Fire Department firefighters recently had the opportunity to participate in real-world, hands-on training at the City Recreation Center prior to its scheduled demolition.
During the exercises, firefighters practiced breaching masonry walls using only hand tools, cutting through metal walls with demolition saws, and conducting multiple search scenarios throughout the building.
“This type of training helps ensure our firefighters are prepared to respond effectively when our community needs them most,” said department officials. “We are proud of our highly trained professionals and their continued commitment to serving our community with dedication and pride.”
The training not only allowed firefighters to refine essential skills in a controlled environment but also provided valuable experience for emergency situations they may face in the future.
