Suspicious Device Found on Buck Boulevard; One Arrest Made

Calhoun, GA – February 10, 2026 – Deputies responded to a suspicious device at a home on Buck Boulevard earlier today, Sheriff Mitch Ralston reported.

At approximately noon, deputy sheriffs and officers from the Department of Community Supervision discovered the device while searching the residence of a State probationer. The Floyd County Ordinance Disposal Team was called to the scene and safely removed the device using a remotely controlled robot.

Jacob Austin McAfee, 34, of 879 Buck Boulevard, was arrested at the scene. Detectives are currently executing search warrants at the residence and interviewing witnesses.

McAfee is expected to face charges related to hazardous incendiary devices and firearms offenses. Officials indicate that additional arrests may follow.

Buck Boulevard was closed to through traffic as of 2:30 p.m. while deputies worked to secure the area and reopen the roadway.

Sheriff Ralston thanked the public for their patience and urged anyone with information related to the incident to contact local law enforcement.
