Gordon County homeowners are being reminded that the deadline to apply for a homestead exemption is April 1, 2026.
Gordon County Chief Appraiser Ashley Bailey and Tax Commissioner Scott Clements are encouraging eligible residents to take advantage of available savings. The State of Georgia offers a variety of homestead exemptions, and Gordon County provides five additional local exemptions that can result in significant property tax savings.
Local exemptions are available for homeowners age 65, 70, and — new this year — 75. Officials say residents who already receive the basic homestead exemption but turned 65, 70, or 75 in the past year should contact the Tax Assessor’s Office for a “homestead checkup,” as they may qualify for a larger exemption.
Applications will be accepted through April 1. Homeowners may also apply during the appeal period, which begins after assessment notices are mailed — typically in late May or early June.
