Betty Joyce Gheen
March 19, 1938 — March 7, 2026

Betty Joyce Gheen, age 87 of Sugar Valley, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

Joyce was born on March 19, 1938 in Blount County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Thelma Stinnett. Joyce worked as a Registered Nurse for over 40 years. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, Bible Studies, and being a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Calhoun, Georgia. She loved their dog Rusty and her cats, J.J. and Suzy Q.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Charles William Gheen; son, Bryan Keith Gheen; and sister, Peggy Woodby.

She is survived by: her son, Mark (Angie) Gheen; granddaughter, Alyce Gheen of Knoxville, TN; sister, Mary Garrison; niece, Melinda (Rodney) Goble of Sugar Valley, GA; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive.

Joyce will be greatly missed by her family and friends and her caregivers, Sue Ledford and Kelley Kirby.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 15, 2026 from 1 PM until 3 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at 3 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Brandon Grubbs officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.
