19-Year-Old Identified in Fatal Bartow County Crash
A 19-year-old Fairmount man has been identified as the victim of a fatal three-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on Highway 411 in northeast Bartow County. Bartow County Coroner Joel Guyton confirmed the victim as Noah Chastain. According to the Georgia State Patrol, a Ford pickup crossed into the southbound lane and struck a tractor-trailer head-on, causing the truck to overturn across the highway. A Cadillac traveling north attempted to avoid the crash but was struck by the falling trailer. Chastain died at the scene. The tractor-trailer driver suffered a leg injury, while the Cadillac driver was not injured. The tractor-trailer was hauling milk, which spilled during the crash, prompting notification of the FDA.

April 1 Deadline Approaching for Homestead Exemption Applications
Gordon County officials are reminding homeowners that the deadline to apply for a homestead exemption is April 1, 2026. The state offers several homestead exemptions, and Gordon County provides five local exemptions with additional savings available for residents ages 65, 70, and a new exemption for those 75 and older. Homeowners who recently reached one of these age milestones may qualify for a larger discount and are encouraged to contact the Tax Assessor’s Office for a “homestead checkup.” Applications will be accepted through April 1, with another opportunity available during the appeal window later this year.
