Gordon County Schools has announced that Dr. Amy J. Parker, principal of Gordon Central High School, will retire at the end of the 2025–2026 school year.
Dr. Parker has spent her entire career with Gordon County Schools, contributing to instructional improvement, workforce development, school leadership, and community engagement throughout the district. Her work has supported strategic planning, accreditation efforts, professional learning programs, and initiatives aimed at improving student outcomes.
During her time in the district, Parker played a role in developing educators, strengthening partnerships with local industries and community organizations, and expanding communication and public engagement efforts. She has also supported innovation in secondary education and participated in statewide educational networks and leadership organizations.
As principal of Gordon Central High School, Parker has focused on improving school climate, strengthening instructional systems, and increasing opportunities for student engagement and success.
Parker and her husband, Jonathan, a Gordon Central alumnus, have long supported the Gordon Central community. Their daughter, Anna Caroline, will graduate from Gordon Central this year.
Reflecting on her retirement, Parker said she is proud to have served as principal at the school where she began her career nearly 30 years ago.
“I will miss seeing my school family on a day-to-day basis, but I also know that I am leaving our students and our school in the hands of an excellent group of educators,” Parker said. “My family and I look forward to supporting the Warrior Nation for many years to come.”
Gordon County Schools officials said leadership transition plans will be announced at a later date.
