Emergency crews responded to a gas leak Thursday in the area between the Forest Heights neighborhood and Engineered Floors, prompting evacuations and a temporary warning for residents to avoid the area.
According to Calhoun Fire Department officials, a total of 26 homes, along with the Engineered Floors facility, were evacuated as a precaution while crews assessed the situation. The affected area included McDaniel Station and Forest Heights.
Atlanta Gas Light was called to the scene to assist with the incident.
In an update issued at approximately 9:15 p.m., officials said Atlanta Gas had given the all clear. Fire crews then began allowing residents to return to their homes.
Authorities had urged the public to avoid the area during the response. No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
