CALHOUN, GAGordon County Schools has announced the appointment of Laramie Rodriguez as the new assistant principal of Red Bud Elementary School, following approval at the April 13 Board of Education meeting.

Rodriguez brings nearly 18 years of experience in education, with a diverse background that includes school counseling, classroom instruction, program leadership, and student support. He currently serves as a school counselor at Gordon Central High School, where he plays a key role in supporting academic progress, student registration, scheduling, family engagement, and various schoolwide initiatives.

Earlier in his career, Rodriguez worked as a Spanish teacher and spent several years as a band director, where he built strong programs, led teams, and strengthened connections between schools and their communities. His dedication to education was recognized in 2014 when he was named Teacher of the Year at Ashworth Middle School.

As a bilingual educator, Rodriguez is known for his collaborative leadership style, strong commitment to students and families, and focus on creating a positive, student-centered school culture. He now looks forward to bringing those qualities to the Red Bud Elementary community.

In a statement, Rodriguez reflected on his career and his excitement for the new role.

“I’m very thankful for my time at Gordon Central because it has shaped me both personally and professionally. It’s a school I care deeply about,” Rodriguez said. “At the same time, this opportunity at Red Bud felt like the right next step for me. I’m excited to expand my experience in the elementary setting, continue growing as a leader, and serve the students, families, and staff of the Red Bud community.”

School leaders say Rodriguez’s wide-ranging experience and passion for student success make him a strong addition to the leadership team at Red Bud Elementary as the school continues its mission of supporting and inspiring every student.
