A former officer with the Calhoun Police Department is among three people arrested in connection with a shooting investigation in Whitfield County, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
The GBI says the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance around 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, following a shooting on County Farm Road in Whitfield County.
Investigators say 44-year-old Jorge Gonzalez shot at a man and woman during the incident.
Authorities allege that 28-year-old Jose Neo Rodriguez, identified as a former Calhoun police officer, and 27-year-old Adrianna Gonzalez of Chatsworth helped Jorge Gonzalez locate and follow the victims prior to the shooting. Investigators also say both Rodriguez and Adrianna Gonzalez made false statements to law enforcement during the investigation.
Jorge Gonzalez was arrested the night of the shooting. Rodriguez and Adrianna Gonzalez were taken into custody on Wednesday, May 13. All three were booked into the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Detention Center.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
