Gordon County Schools has selected Jonathan Fuller as the new assistant principal of Gordon Central High School, bringing a familiar face back to the school where his educational journey began.

The appointment was approved during the Gordon County Board of Education meeting on June 15.

A 2005 Gordon Central High School graduate, Fuller returns to his alma mater after building a decade-long career in education and leadership. Before entering the classroom, he served four years in the United States Navy, where he developed leadership, discipline, and teamwork skills that have helped shape his approach as an educator.

Fuller began his teaching career in 2015 after earning a degree in History and Secondary Education from Dalton State College. He first worked in Polk County before returning to Gordon County Schools, where he has spent the past 10 years serving students at both the middle and high school levels.

He taught at Red Bud Middle School for six years before joining the history department at Sonoraville High School, where he has worked for the past four years. During his career, Fuller has emphasized building strong relationships with students, staff, and families while utilizing data-driven strategies to improve student achievement.

His educational credentials include a Master’s degree and an Education Specialist degree in Instructional Technology, along with Gifted and Teacher Leader endorsements. He is also a graduate of the Gordon County Schools Aspiring Leaders Program.

In addition to his classroom experience, Fuller has established a successful coaching career. He led the girls soccer program at Red Bud Middle School before becoming head coach at Sonoraville High School. Under his leadership, the Lady Phoenix soccer team recently achieved back-to-back Elite Eight appearances.

School officials said Fuller is committed to giving back to the school and community that played a significant role in his development and looks forward to helping continue Gordon Central’s tradition of success.

“I am honored and excited to return home to the Warrior family,” Fuller said. “I look forward to serving the students, teachers, and families at Gordon Central High School.”

Fuller will begin his new role as assistant principal as Gordon Central High School prepares for the upcoming school year.
