The Calhoun Police Department is inviting families to take advantage of a free child car seat safety event this Saturday, June 20, aimed at helping keep children safe while traveling.
The event will take place from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Walmart in Calhoun. Certified personnel will be available to inspect child safety seats and assist parents and caregivers with proper installation.
In addition to checking car seats, officers will answer questions about child passenger safety and provide guidance on selecting the correct car seat based on a child’s height and weight.
Officials say properly installed car seats can significantly reduce the risk of injury in a crash, making routine inspections an important step in protecting young passengers.
The event is free and open to the public. Parents, grandparents and caregivers are encouraged to stop by, whether they need help installing a new seat or simply want to ensure their current car seat is being used correctly.
The Calhoun Police Department hopes the event will raise awareness about child passenger safety and help families travel with confidence throughout the summer.
