Residents in Gordon County and surrounding areas will have an opportunity to receive free food assistance next month as the Chattanooga Area Food Bank hosts a community food distribution event in Calhoun.
The distribution is scheduled for Thursday, July 2, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at First Fruits Ministries of Northwest Georgia, located at 2335 Red Bud Road NE in Calhoun.
Eligible Georgia residents may receive pantry staples, fresh produce, and frozen food items. Eligibility is based on household income and family size.
The event will operate as a drive-thru distribution. Volunteers will place food boxes directly into vehicles, allowing participants to remain in their cars throughout the process.
Food Bank officials encourage attendees to arrive early, as supplies are expected to be limited and could run out before the event concludes. Reservations will not be accepted, and no food deliveries will be provided.
