The Calhoun Fire Department is investigating a commercial structure fire that broke out early Friday morning at 212 South King Street. Chief Mike Schutz confirmed the fire was safely extinguished with no injuries reported.
In regional developments, the EPA has awarded major brownfield grants to help revitalize Northwest Georgia, including $1.5 million to the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission and $500,000 to the Rome Floyd County Development Authority to assess properties for commercial redevelopment.
On the national front, experts predict the Federal Reserve will hold interest rates steady through the end of the year, likely delaying any rate cuts until 2027.
