The long-awaited Northwest Georgia Agriculture & Event Center officially opened Monday with a ribbon cutting ceremony at its new home at 1070 Liberty Road, located at the Northwest Georgia Regional Fairgrounds off Rome Road.
The new facility marks the completion of a project made possible through the 2018 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST), which was approved by Gordon County voters.
County officials say the center is designed to host a wide variety of events, including concerts, rodeos, conferences, community gatherings and other special events throughout the year.
The centerpiece of the facility is a spacious arena featuring permanent bleacher seating for approximately 1,000 spectators. With additional floor seating, the arena’s capacity can expand to accommodate up to 3,000 people.
The event center also includes a large meeting room capable of seating 210 guests with tables and chairs, along with smaller meeting areas, a kitchen, a high-quality sound system and a welcoming lobby.
The facility will waste no time making its public debut. The Northwest Georgia Agriculture & Event Center will host activities during this Saturday’s Star Spangled Celebration, giving residents their first opportunity to experience the new venue.
Officials say the center is expected to become a regional destination, providing Gordon County with a modern venue capable of attracting entertainment, agricultural events, business conferences and community celebrations for years to come.
