As the start of the 2026-2027 school year draws closer, Gordon County Schools is encouraging families to begin preparing with the district’s Back-to-School Information Guide.
The guide provides important resources to help students and parents transition smoothly into the new school year, including information on school procedures, important dates, and other helpful resources. Families can access the guide by visiting the Gordon County Schools website and clicking the “Back to School” banner or by going directly to the district’s Back-to-School Information Guide page https://www.gcbe.org/o/gcs/page/school-guide .
The district has also made school supply lists available online so families can begin gathering the items students will need before classes begin https://www.gcbe.org/o/gcs/page/supplies .
Parents are also encouraged to mark their calendars for upcoming Open House events.
Elementary schools will welcome Pre-K families on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at 8:30 a.m., while kindergarten through fifth-grade students and their families can attend Open House later that day from 4 to 6 p.m.
Middle schools will host Open House on Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 4 to 6 p.m.
High schools will hold Freshman and New Student Orientation on Thursday, Aug. 6, from 4 to 6 p.m.
School officials encourage families to take advantage of the online resources, complete school supply shopping early, and attend Open House events to help students get ready for a successful start to the new school year.
