Girl Scouts are invited to step back in time and discover an important part of Georgia history at New Echota Cherokee Capital State Historic Site in Calhoun.
The special event will be held Saturday, September 12, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at New Echota, located at 1211 Chatsworth Highway SE, Calhoun, GA 30701.
During the event, local rangers will lead age-appropriate guided tours focusing on Cherokee history and the Trail of Tears. Scouts will have the opportunity to explore the historic site while learning about the people, events and stories that shaped the Cherokee Nation.
The visit will also include special demonstrations at New Echota’s historic print shop, giving Scouts a hands-on look at printing and its important role in Cherokee history.
This unique outing combines exploration, history and hands-on learning for an experience Girl Scouts can remember long after their visit.
An admission fee is required.
