The Gordon County Board of Commissioners will meet Tuesday, September 1, with several financial, infrastructure and community-related matters on the agenda, including discussion of the county’s millage rate advertisement and a nearly $493,000 technology upgrade.
The board’s work session will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the regular session at 6 p.m. Both meetings will be held in the Judicial Building Assembly Room.
During the work session, commissioners are scheduled to discuss agenda items, departmental needs and the millage rate advertisement. The board is also expected to enter an executive session to discuss litigation, property acquisition and personnel.
Commissioners will also receive the county’s LOST/SPLOST report.
The regular session will include a proclamation recognizing September as National Recovery Month, along with recognition of county employees celebrating years-of-service milestones during the month.
Among the larger expenditures on the agenda is a request from the county’s IT department to approve a $492,889 server and storage replacement project through Arctiq. The cost includes equipment and professional installation services.
According to the agenda, funding would come from GL Account 411-531600, and approval of the project would require an amendment to the county’s fiscal year 2027 budget.
Commissioners will also consider a request from Human Resources to accept an ACCG Group Self-Insurance Workers’ Compensation Fund Employee Safety Grant application.
Another item involves a change to the responsible party for an alcohol license at Allens Mart, located at 4782 Red Bud Road. The request would designate Ranjan V. Patel as the responsible party for Harry 1201 LLC’s license for off-premises beer and wine sales. County officials say all fees and requirements have been met by the applicant.
The board will also consider approving right-of-way easements to North Georgia EMC for Fidem Energy.
Several annual supplemental agreements with outside agencies are also scheduled for consideration as part of the county’s FY27 budget. Those proposed allocations include $5,000 for Prevent Child Abuse Gordon County, $9,919 for Hand Up Inc. A Voluntary Action Center, $5,000 for the Calhoun-Gordon Arts Council and $4,550 for Winner’s Club.
The county is also considering $34,125 for Gordon County Schools nurse services and another $34,125 for Calhoun City Schools nurse services.
Altogether, the six supplemental agreements listed on the agenda total $92,719 and would be funded through the county’s General Fund for outside agencies.
Commissioners are also scheduled to consider a deannexation request from the City of Calhoun.
