A trip home from a high school volleyball match turned into a powerful moment of compassion Thursday night when members of the Calhoun High School volleyball team stopped to pray for a young motorcyclist seriously injured in a crash.
According to 11Alive’s Cody Alcorn, the Calhoun volleyball team was traveling home when the players came across the scene of a serious motorcycle crash along Highway 27 in Bremen.
Instead of simply passing by, members of the team got off their bus and gathered near the crash scene, where they prayed for the injured motorcyclist, identified as 20-year-old Jordan Swan.
A photo from the scene shows the Calhoun players gathered together along the side of the highway near their bus as emergency crews responded to the crash.
Swan’s family said he remains hospitalized and is expected to undergo several more surgeries as he recovers from his injuries. His family said he has a long road to recovery ahead.
The family also wanted to recognize the Calhoun High School volleyball players for their actions during what was a frightening and uncertain moment.
Their decision to stop, gather together and surround Swan with prayer offered a show of support for a young man and his family during an incredibly difficult time.
Swan continues to receive treatment at the hospital as his recovery moves forward.
