Residents in parts of Gordon County may notice temporary changes in their water this weekend as the Water Department carries out its flushing program.
Crews will be flushing water lines along Piedmont Street, Peters Street, West Belmont, South Wall, South King, Oothcalooga Street and surrounding areas.
The flushing program is a preventive maintenance measure designed to improve water quality by removing sediment that can accumulate throughout the water distribution system.
During the flushing process, some customers may temporarily notice discolored or dirty water coming from their taps. Officials say customers who experience this should allow their water to run for approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
If running the water does not improve its clarity, customers are asked to contact the Water Department office at 706-629-2758.
Residents in the affected areas should be aware that temporary discoloration may occur while crews complete the flushing process over the weekend.
