Residents in northwest Georgia will have an opportunity to take proactive steps toward monitoring their cardiovascular health during an upcoming Community AngioScreen event hosted by AdventHealth.
The event is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the AdventHealth Fairmount EMS Station, located at 2712 Fairmount Highway SW in Fairmount.
The noninvasive vascular screening is designed to help detect risk factors associated with heart disease and stroke before symptoms develop. Officials say the screening takes approximately 10 minutes to complete, and participants will receive immediate results.
The AngioScreen includes several cardiovascular evaluations, including a carotid artery ultrasound for stroke screening, an EKG of the heart, ankle brachial index testing, and abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) screening.
According to AdventHealth, the screening is especially recommended for individuals with cardiovascular risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, smoking history, a family history of stroke or heart attack, or a personal history of cardiovascular disease. Adults age 55 and older are also encouraged to participate.
“At AdventHealth, we believe prevention and early detection play an important role in helping people feel whole,” said Mandy Byars, AngioScreen coordinator. “This screening gives community members an opportunity to better understand their cardiovascular health and take proactive steps toward improving their well-being.”
The full screening costs $85 per person and is HSA eligible. Officials say cash, checks, credit cards, and HSA or flexible spending cards will be accepted.
Appointments are required and can be scheduled online through AdventHealth Community AngioScreen Registration or by calling the AngioScreen office at 706-290-8008.
