The City of Calhoun’s Animal Control Center is expressing gratitude to an anonymous donor whose continued generosity has led to significant improvements at the shelter.

According to shelter officials, the donor has previously provided all of the fencing and turf currently in use at the facility. Most recently, the individual donated new doors and waterslickers for each kennel, upgrades that staff say have greatly improved daily operations and animal care.

In addition to the donations, the donor also repaired a trough that had been overflowing into a walkway, addressing a safety and maintenance concern at the shelter.

“These improvements make a big difference in the safety, cleanliness, and comfort of our facility—for both the animals and our staff,” Calhoun Animal Control said in a statement shared on social media. “We are incredibly grateful for this continued support and kindness.”

Shelter officials say the enhancements will help provide a better environment for animals housed at the center while also improving working conditions for employees and volunteers.
