The Ashworth Middle School Wrestling Warriors continued their dominance on the mat by capturing their fifth consecutive FCAA Individual Region Tournament championship Saturday at Coosa High School.
The Warriors finished with 228.5 team points, edging out Armuchee, which placed second with 199.5 points.
Ashworth entered 14 wrestlers in the varsity tournament and advanced 11 of them to the finals, earning first- or second-place finishes. Eight Warriors were crowned individual region champions: Gavin Harkins, Aidan Patino, Mason Giddens, JR Martinez, Greyson Hudson, Maeson Bingiel-Alderete, Ian Hernandez, and Graycin Thomas.
Logan Dooley, Kerwin Garcia, and Nikkoli Anderson each earned runner-up finishes, while Landon Lowrance and Haiden Hanson placed third. Carter Parker also contributed with a varsity match victory.
The Warriors were equally successful in the junior varsity division. Shadow Brookshire, Benjamin Lopez, Michael Grubbs, and Bryson Goforth all captured first-place finishes. Silas McNeese, Alex Medlin, Corban Grubbs, and Wyatt Wheat placed second, while Julius King, Xander Saenz, and Raylon Lowrance finished third.
With another region title secured, the Ashworth Warriors continue to set the standard for middle school wrestling in the area.
