Calhoun, GA — Weather permitting, drivers traveling along Interstate 75 near milepost 299 should prepare for overnight lane closures starting Saturday, July 26, as crews begin the replacement of the I-75 bridges over Cedar Creek Road.

The bridge construction project, managed by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), is expected to continue through August 31. During this time, various lanes in both directions of I-75 will be closed north of milepost 299, directly over Cedar Creek Road.

Scheduled Lane Closures:

  • Sunday through Thursday: 9:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.

  • Friday through Saturday: 9:00 p.m. – 10:00 a.m.

The closures are necessary to safely accommodate the removal and replacement of the aging bridge structures. Crews will be working throughout the night hours to minimize disruptions to daytime traffic, but delays are still anticipated.

Motorists are strongly urged to slow down, remain alert, and use caution in the work zone. GDOT also reminds the public that work crews will be operating close to active traffic lanes.

For real-time updates on traffic conditions, lane closures, and construction progress, travelers can call 511, visit 511ga.org, or use the Georgia 511 mobile app.

GDOT crews and contractors are continuing to follow recommended sanitary protocols to ensure public and worker safety during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
