Gordon County officials are advising motorists that Brownlee Mountain Road at Highway 53 will remain closed, possibly through the end of next week, as work continues on a water main tie-in project.
According to Gordon County, the extended closure is necessary while crews complete repairs in the roadway. The county is asking drivers to plan ahead and use alternate routes until the work is finished.
Officials also expressed their appreciation to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and the City of Calhoun for their continued efforts to complete the project and restore the roadway as quickly and safely as possible.
Motorists are encouraged to use caution in the area and expect the closure to remain in place until repairs have been completed.
