The City of Calhoun Animal Control has announced that its shelter is officially at full capacity and unable to take in any additional animals at this time.

Officials are urging community members who find a stray to keep the animal safe and contact the shelter before attempting to bring it in. Those needing to surrender a pet are also asked to be patient as staff work to manage the current population and ensure proper care for the animals already housed at the facility.

“We are doing everything we can to care for the animals already in our facility, and we need the community’s help now more than ever,” the shelter said in its announcement.

Staff expressed gratitude for the public’s understanding and continued support, emphasizing that the wellbeing of the animals depends on a united community effort.

Calhoun Animal Control encourages residents to consider fostering, adopting, or donating supplies to help ease the strain during this high-demand period.
