Calhoun City Schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Monday, March 16, 2026, due to a severe weather system expected to move through the area overnight and into the early morning hours.
School officials say the decision was made out of caution as forecasts for Calhoun indicate the potential for strong storms and unsafe travel conditions early Monday morning.
“The safety of our students, staff, and community is our top priority,” the district said in a statement announcing the delay.
Under the delayed schedule, all school start times will be pushed back by two hours. Families are asked to adjust their normal routines accordingly.
Students who are typically dropped off at 7:30 a.m. should plan to arrive at 9:30 a.m., and school bus routes will run two hours behind their normal schedule. For example, a bus that normally arrives at 6:30 a.m. will arrive at approximately 8:30 a.m.
District officials say they will continue monitoring weather conditions in coordination with local emergency management. If additional schedule changes become necessary, updates will be shared through the district’s official website and social media channels.
School leaders encouraged families to stay weather aware and said they look forward to welcoming students back safely Monday morning.
