Calhoun Fire Department Leaders Resign Following Administrative Leave

The City of Calhoun has accepted the resignations of Fire Chief Lenny Nesbitt and Deputy Fire Chief Terry Mills following more than seven weeks of paid administrative leave that began on August 15, 2025.

During Monday’s City Council meeting, members voted on whether to accept each resignation. Regarding Chief Nesbitt, Councilmembers Ray Denmon and Al Edwards voted in favor, while Councilmembers Jackie Palazzolo and Ed Moyer opposed. Mayor Jimmy Palmer cast the deciding vote to accept the resignation.

For Deputy Chief Mills, Councilmembers Moyer, Edwards, and Denmon voted to accept his resignation, with Palazzolo casting the lone vote in opposition.
