CALHOUN, GA — Fire crews responded swiftly to an industrial fire Tuesday evening at the Amcor facility on Highway 41 South, limiting damage and preventing further risk to the business and its employees.
According to Calhoun Fire Department Chief of Training Nathan Saylors, firefighters were dispatched around 7:00 p.m. on July 8 after employees reported the smell of smoke inside the building. At the time, the facility was in operation.
A worker who was filling a hyster tank outside noticed smoke coming from the roof and promptly called 911. Firefighters arrived quickly and were able to contain and extinguish the fire, which was isolated to the roof area.
Damage is estimated at approximately $10,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
