CALHOUN, Ga. — Calhoun Police arrested a man Wednesday afternoon following an armed altercation in the parking lot of the Calhoun Lodge.
According to Police Chief Tony Pyle, officers were dispatched around 12:30 p.m. on September 17 to the Calhoun Lodge, located at 200 South Line Street, after reports of a man causing a disturbance.
Witnesses told police the man, who appeared to be highly intoxicated, became involved in a verbal confrontation in the parking lot. During the dispute, the suspect allegedly pulled what appeared to be a firearm from his waistband, pointed it at the victim, and made violent threats.
The man then returned to his apartment with his juvenile son before officers arrived. Responding officers attempted to make contact, but the suspect refused to open the door. Detectives later secured a search warrant and entered the residence, where the man was taken into custody without further incident.
Police confirmed the juvenile was unharmed and released to a family member.
The suspect was identified as George Edward Daniel, 63. He faces multiple charges, including Disorderly Conduct, Aggravated Assault, Obstruction, and Cruelty to Children in the third degree.
